Equity Solar Illinois (ESI) is pleased to announce a donation of $50,000 to Evolve Foundation to support its mission of training, supporting, and preparing system-impacted individuals for long-term careers in the solar industry.
Evolve Foundation closes the gap between system-impacted communities and sustainable careers in clean energy by providing wrap-around support — including mentorship, barrier mitigation, stipends, and alumni services — for individuals entering clean energy roles. Every graduate receives a job offer within six months of program completion, and Evolve Foundation has a less than 2% recidivism rate.
“We are deeply grateful to ESI for this support,” said Jequillan Chandler, founder of Evolve Foundation. “At Evolve Foundation, we are the spirit of CEJA, embodying its vision of equity, opportunity, and lasting impact. With this investment, we’ll be able to train more individuals, remove the barriers that often hold them back, and help build real, long-term careers. This kind of partnership strengthens both our community and the solar energy workforce.”
ESI’s donation will directly help Evolve continue doing this vital work in service of Illinois residents who want to take part in the energy transition and begin a new career in solar.
“We believe clean energy is about people, opportunity, and community,” said Rena Henderson Mason, Principal of Equity Solar Illinois. “This donation is part of our commitment to investing not only in infrastructure, but also in lives. And it’s the first step in our community-giving journey.”
The donation to Evolve Foundation is the start of a long-term community engagement strategy for ESI. The company plans to make further contributions, partner with other local nonprofits, and support workforce-development initiatives across Illinois in the coming years. By aligning its business mission with social responsibility, ESI hopes to lead by example in the clean energy industry.
